<p>Cash rounding commonly occurs when low-denomination coins are removed from circulation due to inflation. Cash rounding may be a compulsory legal requirement if such coins are no longer in circulation, or a voluntary practice where they remain in circulation but are scarce or impractical.</p>

<p>With Alto’s, you can apply cash rounding according to the general practices accepted in your country. This feature is not applicable for other payment types.</p>

<p>To set up cash rounding:</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1"><li>Go to <strong>Back Office &gt; Settings &gt; Payment types</strong>. Tap <strong>Cash</strong>.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="850" height="657" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/1-2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2999" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/1-2.jpg 850w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/1-2-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/1-2-768x594.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="2"><li>In the <strong>Edit payment type screen</strong> you can see that 0.01 is set up by default.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="850" height="657" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/2-2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3000" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/2-2.jpg 850w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/2-2-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/2-2-768x594.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="3"><li>Tap on the <strong>Rounding</strong> section and pick an appropriate rounding interval with an appropriate rounding rule, if applicable, from the drop-down list. The system offers 5 different rounding intervals (<strong>0.01</strong>; <strong>0.05</strong>; <strong>0.10</strong>; <strong>0.50</strong>; <strong>1.00</strong>) with different rounding rules (except for <strong>0.01</strong>).</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="850" height="657" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/3-2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3001" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/3-2.jpg 850w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/3-2-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/3-2-768x594.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="4"><li>Once you pick one, you will see how the chosen rounding rule works below the <strong>Rounding</strong> section (except <strong>0.01</strong>). You can test the rule by entering decimal variations before saving.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="850" height="657" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/4-2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3002" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/4-2.jpg 850w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/4-2-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/4-2-768x594.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="5"><li>Tap <strong>Save</strong> to save the setting.</li><li>From now on the system will round the ticket amount according to the rounding rule you have chosen.</li><li>Go to the Point of Sale to make/complete a sale. Given that the order/ticket is ready, tap Charge and you can see the <strong>Cash received</strong> value rounded based on the chosen rounding rule.</li></ol>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="8"><li>Once you enter the actual cash amount received, the system will calculate the change based on the rounded ticket amount.</li></ol>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="9"><li>Similarly, the receipt will contain information about the rounding and rounded version of the sales amount.</li></ol>

<p>Alto’s POS &amp; Inventory allows you to customize a receipt template for each of your locations.</p>

<p>To do this:</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1"><li>Go to <strong>Back Office &gt; Settings &gt; Custom receipt.</strong></li><li>Tap to open the <strong>Default</strong> receipt template, which is applicable if there is no template for a specific location. OR, if you want to design a custom receipt for a specific location, then tap the <strong>Add Receipt Template</strong> button.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="835" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/1-5.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3468" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/1-5.jpg 835w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/1-5-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/1-5-768x593.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="3"><li>Now you’re on the <strong>Edit Receipt Settings page</strong>, where you can customize your receipt within the capabilities that the system provides.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="656" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/2-5.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3469" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/2-5.jpg 656w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/2-5-300x295.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Add company logo to your receipts</strong></p>

<p>In Alto’s, you can add your own company logo to be displayed on receipts. Follow this link to learn more about adding a custom logo to your receipts.</p>

<p><strong>Add header and footer to your receipts</strong></p>

<p>With Alto’s, you can turn your receipts into a personalized marketing tool. Make the most out of your paper or email receipts by adding a custom header and/or footer to your receipts. To do this:</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="4"><li>On the <strong>Edit Receipt Settings</strong> page, enter your marketing messages in the <strong>Header</strong> and <strong>Footer</strong> fields.<br>Tap <strong>Save</strong> when you’re done.<br>You can preview the real look of your customized receipt on the right side of the screen (both print and email).<br>If you have multiple locations and you want to design a custom receipt for each of them, then you need to undertake the steps described above for each location separately.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="595" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/3-5.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3470" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/3-5.jpg 595w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/3-5-277x300.jpg 277w" sizes="(max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Show customer info and comments</strong></p>

<p>By default, customer info and comments on orders entered at sales are not displayed on receipts issued to customers (both printed or emailed). This information can be viewed only by authorized Alto’s users at the Back Office or Point of Sale. However, you can customize your receipt template so that this information is displayed on the customer receipts (both printed or emailed).</p>

<p>To do this:</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="5"><li>On the <strong>Edit Receipt Settings</strong> page turn the <strong>Show customer info</strong> and <strong>Show comments</strong> toggles on.<br>You can preview the customized receipt on the right side of the screen.<br>Tap <strong>Save </strong>when you’re done.<br>If you have multiple locations and you want to design a custom receipt for each of them, then you need to undertake the steps described above for each location separately.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="594" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/4-5.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3471" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/4-5.jpg 594w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/4-5-276x300.jpg 276w" sizes="(max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="6"><li>Now, if you sell to a customer that is in your database or enter comments on order items, the information will appear on the receipt when you print or email it.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="835" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/5-4.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3472" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/5-4.jpg 835w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/5-4-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/5-4-768x593.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px" /></figure>

<p>If you run a restaurant or cafe, you can use Alto’s Kitchen Display System (KDS) to replace printers and paper tickets in your kitchen. It instantly transmits orders from the point of sale (POS) to the correct kitchen station, thus ensuring seamless coordination between the front desk and the kitchen staff.</p>

<p>Here are the steps on how you can set up and start using Alto’s KDS in your restaurant.</p>

<p><strong>1. How to set up Alto’s Kitchen Display System (KDS)</strong></p>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1"><li>First, go to <strong>Back Office &gt; Settings &gt; Features</strong>. Toggle the <strong>Kitchen printers</strong> switch on and tap <strong>Save</strong>.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="835" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3522" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0.jpg 835w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0-768x593.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="2"><li>Then go to <strong>Back Office &gt; Locations &amp; Devices &gt; KDS devices. </strong>Tap the <strong>Add KDS Device +</strong> button to add a new kitchen display device.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="835" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0a.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3523" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0a.jpg 835w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0a-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0a-768x593.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="3"><li>Enter a device name, select the location and the right station to which the display will be connected. Tap <strong>Save</strong>.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="835" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0b.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3524" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0b.jpg 835w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0b-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0b-768x593.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="4"><li>Now download and open <strong>Alto’s POS &amp; Inventory</strong> on the device that will serve as a KDS display.</li><li>On the <strong>Sign in </strong>screen, select <strong>Kitchen Display</strong>, then enter your email address and password to log in.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="835" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0c.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3525" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0c.jpg 835w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0c-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0c-768x593.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="6"><li>On the next screen, choose the added kitchen display from the dropdown list and tap <strong>Select</strong>.</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="835" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0d.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3526" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0d.jpg 835w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0d-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0d-768x593.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1" start="7"><li>From now on, orders are instantly displayed on the screen as tickets, provided that the correct station has been selected for the ordered items (i.e. the same as that selected for the current KDS).</li></ol>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="835" height="645" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0e.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3527" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0e.jpg 835w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0e-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/0e-768x593.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px" /></figure>

<p><strong>2. How to work with Alto’s Kitchen Display System (KDS)</strong></p>

<p>With Alto’s, billing is fast, easy and smooth.</p>

<p>To start using the “Print bill” function, first make sure that the “Open tickets” feature is ON (<strong>Back Office &gt; Settings &gt; Features</strong>) and your receipt printer is connected with Alto’s POS.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="850" height="657" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2896" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/1.jpg 850w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/1-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/1-768x594.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure>

<p>Now, create a new ticket (see <a href="/docs/how-to-make-sales-with-altos-pos/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">How to Make Sales with Alto’s POS</a>) and save it, or go to an open ticket (see <a href="/docs/open-tickets/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Open Tickets</a>). To print a bill, tap the printer icon. Alternatively, you can tap the vertical ellipsis (<strong>⋮</strong>) in the upper right corner and select <strong>Print bill </strong>from the drop-down menu.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="850" height="657" src="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2897" srcset="https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/2.jpg 850w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/2-300x232.jpg 300w, https://altospos.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/2-768x594.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure>

<p>NOTE: If you try to print a bill without saving the ticket, a <strong>Save ticket </strong>window will appear, where you can edit the ticket name, add a comment and tap <strong>Save</strong> to print the bill.</p>
